i started speechy as a way to turn recordings into notes and to-dos. the idea kept getting bigger, but i kept coming back to a smaller moment: having something to say and not wanting to stop what i was doing to type it. so i rebuilt it as a mac app. now i can hold a key, speak, and have the text appear wherever my cursor is. it cleans up filler words and mid-sentence corrections, and the transcription runs on the mac. getting that basic flow to feel natural has taken a lot more work than i expected. the part i’m thinking about now is what comes after dictation. i want speechy to help do things too, like create a reminder or act on something i’ve just said. some simple actions can already happen on the mac. more complex agent requests can still go through a connected cloud ai account, though, so i’m trying to be honest about that boundary while i work out what can run locally. if you wanted a voice agent that kept as much as possible on your own machine, what would you actually ask it to do? and what information would you never want it to send to another provider? the mac app is here if you want to see where it’s at: speechy.tech . i’d appreciate blunt feedback on the direction.   submitted by   /u/Ornery-Length8689 [link]   [comments]
