I got tired of scanning letters just to end up with a folder full of PDFs, so I built PaperCat. It OCRs them locally, figures out what the document is about, extracts deadlines and amounts, tells me if I need to do something, and can even draft a reply. It can use OpenAI/Claude/Gemini, but also Ollama or LM Studio if you want everything local. It’s a Windows app with a free edition. I built it myself and just released it, so I’d especially appreciate feedback from people who actually deal with lots of scanned paperwork.
