Original Summary
The good news is that your product may not be the problem. The bad news is that “people are not responding” also does not mean you just need to send more messages. I have seen founders build something genuinely useful, put together a reasonable list, send a few hundred messages, get almost nothing back, and immediately assume one of two things: the product is bad, or outbound does not work. There is a third possibility. You are contacting people who could use the product, but you are not contacting them at a moment when the problem matters. That difference sounds small, but it changes the whole campaign. If you sell infrastructure for AI apps, “companies building AI” is not enough. Which teams are losing context between sessions? Which teams are discussing memory? Which teams are hiring someone to maintain a capability you already provide? Which founders have publicly complained about rebuilding the same thing? Now the outreach is not “we help AI companies with memory.” It can start from the actual situation the person is already in. The process I would use before changing the product is: Pick one narrow problem the product solves. Find 30 people who have shown evidence of that problem. Write down the evidence beside every name. Contact them manually. Record their exact objections and questions. Thirty conversations will not give you perfect market truth, but they will teach you far more than sending generic copy to thousands of people. The hard part is that this is slower at the beginning. The nice part is that it gives you something you can actually improve. If your product works but customer acquisition is stuck, what have prospects told you so far? submitted by /u/namanyayg [link] [comments]
