Hey everyone, I finally did it. Tendo: Calm Focus Planner is live on the App Store. 🎉 This is my first App Store release, and I’m still getting used to the fact that something that lived inside Xcode for months can now just be downloaded by complete strangers. Which is very cool... and slightly terrifying. 😅 Tendo started because I wanted a calmer way to organize my own day. I wanted tasks and routines in one place, but I didn’t want another productivity system telling me that every empty 15-minute block of my life needed to become an opportunity for optimization. 😂 The basic idea became: What feels doable now? Instead of trying to create the perfect day, Tendo tries to help you find a manageable next step and actually start. There are already some really good apps in this space, and I’m not trying to compete with them or convince anyone that I somehow reinvented productivity. I’m definitely not here to start a productivity-app war. 😂 I just had my own idea of how I wanted this kind of app to feel: Calmer. Less demanding. Private. And focused more on small steps than perfect plans. Tendo now includes tasks, routines, Focus sessions, widgets, Live Activities, progress tracking, a motivational companion, and support for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. I also made it local-first. There’s no account, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics backend collecting your planning data. There’s an encrypted backup option, but where that backup is stored is up to the user. And for version 1.0, Tendo is completely free . No subscription. No in-app purchases. No “free for seven days and then we’ll discuss your mortgage options.” 😄 Shipping it was an experience I thought getting the app ready was going to be the stressful part. Then App Review arrived. 😂 The first rejection was basically Apple saying: We need more information. And videos. Lots of videos. So I recorded Tendo running on my physical iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, explained the privacy model, the app’s purpose, how it works, and pretty much everything except what I had for breakfast. Submitted again. Rejected again. 😅 The second one was actually interesting. Tendo supports optional Focus Environment sounds that can continue playing in the background. But Tendo is silent by default, so the reviewer didn’t discover the feature and questioned why the app declared background audio support. Which, from their point of view, was actually fair. So I recorded more videos. One showed Tendo’s own Focus Environment audio continuing in the background. Another showed what happens when Spotify is already playing — Tendo leaves it alone and doesn’t try to replace it or read/display the track information. Sent everything back. Waited. And then: Approved. 🎉 At that point Tendo had gone from: Xcode project → TestFlight app → documentary subject → actual App Store app. 😂 A few things I learned from shipping v1.0 The biggest one is probably that something being obvious to the person who built the product does
