Hi r/SideProject , I've been building Court & Field, a free app that runs inside Telegram and helps people find tennis and pickleball groups and places to play near them. It's a trial right now, and I'd love honest feedback from other builders. The problem Lots of great local groups already exist, but they live in private chats you only find if you already know someone. If you're new in town, traveling, or getting back into the game, it's surprisingly hard to find people to play with. Organizers have the opposite problem: they'd love new members but have no easy way to be found. The main goal: connect people who want to play, and make existing communities an easier, nicer place for new people to join and gather. How to try it Open Telegram (free on iPhone, Android and computer) Tap the search bar and type: Courtandfieldbot Open "Court & Field" and tap Start Pick tennis or pickleball, then share your location or type a ZIP code See the nearest groups (level, size, distance) and join with one tap There's also a small website explaining how it works. You'll find it in my profile, or ask in the comments. Features so far 🔍 Group search by location or ZIP (works at home or while traveling) 📍 Places to play: nearby courts with directions, labeled public / school / club, and users can add missing courts 🔔 Notify me: if no group exists nearby, you get a message when one starts 👥 Organizers list their group with /register: level, open or members-only (with join requests), and where they play 🏟️ Community groups: using Telegram Topics, one group gets a Social Lobby plus Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced rooms, with a welcome for new members 🏅 Official vs. player-run badges, so a club's official group is clearly marked 🛡️ Safety: 18+ agreement, report button, "play safe" reminders, and moderation tools How it's built (for the curious) Telegram bot with grammY (Node.js), running as a webhook on Vercel (Next.js, which also serves the website). Supabase (Postgres) for data. Courts come from OpenStreetMap via the Overpass API, cached for 30 days, plus user-submitted places I approve. Addresses are geocoded with the free US Census geocoder. Everything runs on free tiers. I went with Telegram instead of a standalone app because groups already live in chats, there's nothing to install, and it made it possible to ship fast. Where it's at It's a trial: US only for now, just tennis and pickleball, and still few groups listed. Next up is creating games (pick a day, time and court, singles or doubles, and others join; the temporary room cleans itself up after the game).
