Hi everyone! i hope you're all well. just want to share a side project. The problem Every notes, to-do or transcription app with AI features seems to want a monthly subscription. I wanted one app for notes, tasks and spending where the AI runs on my own Mac for free. What it is Four Notes is notes, to-dos and a spending tracker in one app. They're linked together, and an assistant files things for you. You just type or say for example: i spent $4 on lunch, and split with andi : logs the expense and tracks what Andi owes you Remind me to pay rent $60 every month : a recurring task that's also a bill I finished the groceries : move to-do groceries to done It shows you what it filed each time. One More Thing Everything is linked. Tick off "Pay rent" and the payment is logged. A trip note keeps its tasks and receipts. One search covers all of it. Scan a receipt, handwriting or a checklist and it decides whether it's spending, a note or a task. Voice notes are transcribed on-device become a note summary or to-dos. Today page: one paragraph with what's due, yesterday's spending, and any budget that's over. Money stuff: budgets, split bills, multi-currency, and it spots subscriptions (same merchant, similar amount every month). The edge dock *my favorite A small handle sits on the edge of your screen over any app. Hover or press ⇧⌘. and you get a quick note, today's tasks, recorder transcribe basically everything in apps, without switching apps. You can also pin a note to it as a little bubble. If people like it, I might release it as a standalone app. AI: local first Apple Intelligence by default. It runs on your Mac, works offline, and there's no account. Your can deploy your own local LLM through Ollama or LM Studio if you want something smarter. A cloud model with your own API key if you want the best results. The key is stored only in your Mac's Keychain. Pricing Free. No subscription, no account, open source (MIT/Apache). I honestly have no plan to monetize it, so there's just a Ko-fi link if you want to support it. (Not joining the dark side… yet.) Known limitations Apple Intelligence needs macOS 26+. No iCloud sync. I can't afford the Apple developer account yet. There's optional Google Drive sync instead, which also lets the Mac app and the web app share data. Apple Intelligence is... not very smart. I've spent a lot of time guiding it, and it handles simple sentences well, but for anything complex a local LLM or API key works much better.
