Some people have already written a book and don't know it. Three years of notes in Obsidian. A Notion wiki that grew one page at a time. A folder of .md files with everything you've collected on a subject. The material is there. What isn't there is the book — because between a thousand pieces and a manuscript sits a moving job that puts anyone off: open, copy, paste, rename, put the images back, rebuild the cross-references. Three days of work that isn't writing. Which is why most people never do it. 4.5 imports the whole folder. PressWork shows you the tree of what's inside and asks one thing: where does the book begin. Top-level entries become chapters, images come into the document, links between pages become cross-references. At the end a report tells you what came in and what didn't. From there it's a manuscript like any other: revise it, lay it out, export to PDF/X for the printer or ePub for the stores. Also in 4.5: - Save As… next to Save — a copy of the file, or a complete duplicate of a PressWork document with text, images, notes and history. - Export As… next to Generate — choose the name and folder for your PDF or Word file, and it's remembered for that document. - Open with PressWork — double-click a .md file and it opens, even with the app already running. - Dictation — the guide now covers using macOS and Windows dictation right in the editor, punctuation included. - Exports to PDF, PDF/X, Word, ODT, ePub and HTML are closer than before to what you see in the preview.
