today was a massive day. we finally tackled the threads section, which is basically the main social feed. built out the discovery feed, search, and the create post screen. spent a lot of time on the create post page to make it feel right. added this feature where the borders of the text boxes change color as you type. white at first, then yellow when you're getting close to the limit, and red when you hit the max. it physically stops you from typing more. also added a word filter so people cant post toxic stuff. the biggest headache today was the actual post view page. you know how some apps squish everything into a tiny box? i wanted it to feel like reddit or a normal webpage, where the text just expands naturally and you scroll down to the comments. took a lot of tweaking to get the layout to breathe properly. also got tired of boring spinning circles for loading screens. so we built a custom loading animation. it literally morphs from a triangle to a square, pentagon, hexagon, all the way to an octagon and loops back. it pops up whenever the app is fetching data. threads section is almost done. moving on to the next big feature tomorrow.   submitted by   /u/Petifys [link]   [comments]
