I was working on an app called Lion’s Forge, which is a dating assistant app. I had to create an enormous amount of content for TikTok, so at some point I just started using AI for it. I had Codex running like crazy, doing one task after another, and everything seemed to be working well. Until one night, when I started inspecting all the videos it had made. At first, I thought one of the animations was just unusually dark. But as I continued watching them, I started noticing that each video seemed slightly more depressing than the previous one. The colours were becoming darker, the characters looked less happy and the whole atmosphere was slowly changing. I went backwards through the videos to make sure I wasn’t imagining it, but the change was actually there. By the time I reached video 543, it had become way too dark to use as an ad.
