Hey everyone, Big update on ComicsNow, the self-hosted comic and manga reader I shared here a while back. Since my last post it's had a total redesign, plus a few features I think are worth calling out on their own. Tagging is now fully built-in. ComicTagger was a required dependency before; it isn't anymore. I built the metadata search and matching logic directly into ComicsNow, pulling from multiple sources — Comic Vine, Metron, GCD, LCG, and Google Books — so tagging your library no longer means installing and wiring up a separate Python tool. One less moving part in setup, and tagging happens natively in the app. Total redesign. The UI got rebuilt from the ground up, and the architecture underneath went through a major refactor. MCP server. ComicsNow now has an MCP server, so you can manage your library, tags, and reading lists through chat with an AI assistant (Claude, etc.) instead of clicking through the UI for everything — think "tag this series," "add these issues to my crossover reading list," or "mark this run as read" as natural-language requests.
