I build and maintain roughly 15 side projects, mostly for fun, and while hosting for apps and databases are pretty easy to get for free (or very cheap), AI API costs were adding up really quickly. So I went on a hunt for some free AI API tokens, and was thinking I'd share it here: xAI Groq API - Get $150/month of free API usage by enabling data sharing. Official docs . OpenAI ChatGPT API - By enabling data-sharing, you'll be eligible for: Up to 1 million free tokens per day across the smarter models, or up to 10 million free tokens per day across the more casual models. Read more on the official docs or see a step by step demo for enabling it. Google Gemini API - Free tier with model-specific quotas. For example, Google currently lists 20 requests per day for some models, while others have higher limits. Search for the "Free Tier" column for the model you're planning to use, in the official pricing & limits . These are definitely enough for my side projects, reducing my AI bill to $0. One catch: some of these offers may not be the best fit if the data you're handling is sensitive or shouldn't be shared, so be mindful of the data you're sending to the AI model.
