Original Summary
Curious if anyone’s been on the builder side of this. I’m looking at more unpaid / equity work on something in a pretty crowded category. There are already a bunch of tools doing a version of the same thing. We don’t really have a solid moat yet. Still trying to find a wedge that is actually doable, not just a good story. Proof is thin and there’s basically no budget. I've shipping successful SaaS products in the past and doing this more as a favor for a friend. What I want is stories: - You took equity (or a big unpaid chunk) to go find the wedge while building. Did it work out? - Same setup, and it just kind of died. What was the tell that you should’ve stopped earlier? - What did you get in writing before you put more time in? Time cap, paid spike first, kill criteria, who owns the code if it goes sideways, etc. - When did “we’ll figure out the moat as we go” stop being a reasonable thing to tell yourself? Just want to hear from people who sat in this seat. submitted by /u/Special_K85 [link] [comments]
