Original Summary
Hi everyone, I’ve been building Selfime, a meditation recorder for iOS and Android with a cassette deck interface. The idea came from reading books that asked you to record meditations or letters in your own voice. I wanted to make that a bit more fun and engaging, with something I’d want to keep coming back to. You can write your own practice or personalize an included script, then record it a section at a time. There’s on-device transcription and read-along guidance, and each recording becomes a cassette you can label and customize. I’ve just released version 1.1, shaped by feedback I received after sharing earlier versions. One thing I get is that hearing your own voice can feel awkward. Getting comfortable with it is part of the idea, and recording your own practices is still at the center, but you can now also listen to a built-in guide or your device’s voice without recording anything yourself. You can also send someone a tape you’ve recorded in your own voice, while your journal on Side B stays private. Alongside those additions, I’ve made editing easier and improved performance, particularly when saving longer recordings. Your recordings stay encrypted on your device, with no account required. The free edition includes three recording slots, and there’s an optional lifetime purchase with no subscription. I’ve attached a video showing how it works. You can find Selfime at selfime.com , and I’d love to hear what you think. submitted by /u/saccader [link] [comments]
