Original Summary
I've been a software engineer for almost a decade , and I keep seeing some version of this workflow: idea → prompt Claude/Cursor/Replit → start coding And honestly, sometimes that works surprisingly well. But when it goes sideways, the problem often started before the code. The idea was still fuzzy. Different assumptions were being made. The business was thinking about one version of the product while the implementation was slowly becoming something else. So I’ve been experimenting with adding a step back in front of the coding agent. I built a free tool that takes one product idea and creates two views of it: - an executive blueprint - a technical blueprint Same underlying idea, but translated for two different jobs. The goal isn’t to have AI magically decide the “correct” architecture or replace an engineer. I’m more interested in whether getting the idea into a more structured form before writing code makes the next step better. It’s a free resource I built as part of Pilot Spring: https://www.pilotspring.com/blueprint-reddit I’d especially like feedback from people who are building with AI right now: What would have to be in a pre-coding blueprint for you to actually use it? And what kind of generated planning doc would you immediately ignore? submitted by /u/Bandbyneckbeard [link] [comments]
