Original Summary
A few months ago, I started building Flapflop, a social platform made specifically for video games. The idea is pretty simple: a place where people can share video game news, clips, screenshots, discussions, ask questions, follow other people, and build communities around the games they play. I'm 16, and I've been working on this mostly on my own, using AI tools to help me with development while I handle the product, design, and direction. I launched the first version in July. A few people joined, some of them started posting and creating communities, and I got a lot of useful feedback from those early users. Then I took a step back and rebuilt a lot of the platform. I just released v0.2.0, which brings a much cleaner UI, a reputation system, improved information/resources, a new landing page, and a few other changes. Now I'm at the part that I'm probably the least experienced with: actually getting people to discover the product. I've started experimenting with Reddit today, sharing actual video game content rather than just dropping links everywhere. I'm also going to try direct promotion in communities where it's allowed. I'm not expecting thousands of users overnight. Right now, I'd honestly be happy to figure out how to consistently get the first few people to discover Flapflop, sign up, and actually come back. The website is flapflop.com if anyone wants to take a look. If you've built a product from scratch, I'd genuinely be interested in hearing how you got your first users. What worked for you, and what completely didn't? submitted by /u/MenuTop9911 [link] [comments]
