Original Summary

My wife and I have spent about 18 months developing this. It's a linen/cotton blanket designed to fold and present like a bouquet of flowers, then open into a large round blanket. The product is finally finished, but now we're running into a problem I didn't expect: There are almost too many ways to position it. It could be a Mother's Day or romantic gift. But it could also be a baby shower gift, bridal/bridesmaid gift, birthday gift, housewarming gift, picnic blanket, beach blanket, something to bring to outdoor concerts/festivals, sympathy/thinking-of-you gift, corporate gift, etc. I'm starting to wonder if trying to market all of those use cases actually makes the product harder to understand. So if you saw the video/images with zero context: What would you assume this product was for? And if you were launching it, what niche would you focus on first? Also curious where you'd naturally expect to discover/buy something like this: TikTok, Etsy, Amazon, a florist, gift shop, baby boutique, somewhere else? Candid feedback is appreciated, especially if you think it's one of those products people say is cool but wouldn't actually spend money on. We're trying to figure out whether we have a positioning problem or a product-market-fit problem. submitted by /u/EntrepreNate [link] [comments]
