Original Summary
Genuinely feel like this is a universal founder disease at this point. Someone asks for something simple, like an export button or a basic filter, and you go "yeah noted, adding it soon" and then genuinely mean it. But then somehow the next three weeks go into building a dark mode toggle or some fancy animation nobody asked for, just because it was more fun to code than the boring stuff. And it's not like you don't know it's happening either. You're sitting there building the fun feature, fully aware that the export button request is just sitting in the backlog collecting dust, and you still don't switch. Because let's be honest, coding a CSV export is boring, but making a slick UI toggle actually feels like progress. Then a few weeks later you're staring at low engagement numbers wondering what went wrong, completely ignoring that the one feature that would've actually kept people using the product got quietly deprioritized in favour of something that looks nice in a screenshot. Classic case of "cool to build" beating "useful to users," and I think almost every founder has done this at least once, whether they admit it or not. submitted by /u/VariousAnimator1507 [link] [comments]
