Original Summary
I’ve been building CASEFILE as a side project and finally shipped v1.0. It’s a single-player detective game that runs directly inside Reddit. Players examine evidence, compare statements and timelines, use forensic interfaces, build connections, keep private notes, and file a final reconstruction. The part that took the most work wasn’t just the UI , it was making sure the mystery logic stayed hidden while still giving the player enough information to investigate freely! lol lots of thinking I ended up building two very different case structures: CF-001 — The Last Light at Bellwether House A more traditional timeline/access/staged-scene mystery. CF-002 — The Room That Checked Out Empty A deeper identity-fraud case with recovered phone/laptop records, hotel systems, evidence comparison, and an Identity Map. I built it solo and used AI as a development assistant for coding, debugging, UI iteration, and some visual asset creation. It’s free to play here: r/CASEFILEgame One of the biggest lessons was that building the game was only half the problem. Designing deductions that feel difficult without feeling arbitrary took way more iteration than I expected. submitted by /u/SeaPublic6986 [link] [comments]
