Original Summary

I think task management is one of the most important things for any developer. It is where you figure out what needs to happen, who is doing it, and what is actually finished. We wanted something with the feel of Linear, with docs alongside the work, that we could also open up for everyone to use and improve. So we built Orbit. I'm one of the people behind it at Noveum. It has issues, boards, sprints and projects, along with an integrated document section inspired by Notion. You can keep the explanation of what you are building next to the tasks needed to build it. It also has realtime updates, keyboard shortcuts, GitHub integration and an MCP server so agents can work with your tasks. Noveum is covering the hosted service and development. It is free to use, and the code is available under Apache 2.0. Self-hosting is currently in preview, so it is not yet a supported production release. I really believe we should have more high-quality open-source projects that people can use together, fix together and make better. If something you need is missing, you should be able to open an issue or a pull request and help shape it. That is what we want Orbit to become. We are providing it for free because why not.
