I’ve been building CursorShot, a desktop tool for recording an app window and turning the footage into a short product demo. I spent a lot of time on the details that bothered me when making demos myself: choosing exactly what to capture, editing scenes, and making cursor movement and zooms feel intentional. The strange part is that I didn’t realize how many good tools existed in this space until after I’d built mine. Now I notice them everywhere. Some are more mature, and it’s made me question whether I found a useful angle or just built another tool nobody needed. Honestly, I suspect I’ll feel this way no matter what I build next. There will always be someone who has done parts of it better. So I’m going to keep working on this one and see how far I can take it. If you make product demos, what do you actually need from a tool like this? What would make it worth using over the alternatives?
