Original Summary

Hey r/SideProject . This is BenelOil, a low-poly gas station tycoon you can play free in the browser, no download or sign-up needed. What it is You start with one pump and serve every car yourself: pick the right fuel, fill it, take the payment. Put diesel in a petrol car and it costs you. The money goes into more pumps, a market, a car wash, new branches. Each in-game day is short, so "just one more day" happens a lot. How I built it I'm one person. The stack is Three.js + TypeScript on the front end and a small Node + Postgres server for cloud saves and analytics. Most of the code was written with Claude Code; I did the design, testing and decisions. Models are mostly Kenney's free CC0 assets. The story so far - I launched about 6 weeks ago and got 1,000 players in the first 2 days. Then it slowed down, like most launches do. - Instead of chasing new traffic, I dug into the data. Half the players quit within the first minute. I simplified that minute (fewer popups, the first customer shows up right away) and median playtime went from ~1 min to 3–4. - This week I relaunched on itch.io with those fixes. Daily players went from ~40 to ~600, and it hit 1,000 players in 2 days again. - Those 1,000 players played ~300 hours in total. What I'd love feedback on Is the first minute clear without any tutorial text? When did you get bored or quit, and why? Anything that looks broken on your screen (phone or desktop)?
