Original Summary
With AI of course now, the actually building of that quick idea that’s been in your head for years is easier than ever. One thing I completely underestimated was the promotion of it - getting eyeballs and actually converting to a download. For example, I built 3 apps over the summer. All solved pain points that I had in my life. Onboarding for each is very minimal. #1 “HoopMe” - simply a pickup basketball app. Nothing like any of the few that are on the market I saw. I have a 100s of friends that play a lot of pickup basketball but getting them to click a link to download has been like pulling teeth. 23K views on TikTok post about it and less than 50 downloads in a month ( https://hoopme.app/ ). Not even sure where to go next after paying for TiKTok 12 hour ads promotion #2 “Vicini” - a simple, clean and ad-free app to talk to your neighbors unlike NextDoor which is littered with ads.. 3 downloads since releasing in August. Outside of not having Android yet (still working on it), not a lot eyeballs. ( https://vicini.app/ ). I’m the sole user so far that’s created an account #”BeTimeful” - my favorite of the 3 and the only user so far. I’m into metrics like sleeping, exercise, etc with Apple Watch and Oura ring. I wanted one to be mindful of where my time is going so I created BeTimeful. ( https://betimeful.app/ ). And no, not screen time. I thought building would be the hardest part but I got that wrong! Converting views into downloads is a beast! A newbie here is very open to suggestions. submitted by /u/Travis__Lamar [link] [comments]
