Original Summary
This sounds wrong, but I’ve seen a weird pattern with products: You launch with a very specific customer in mind. Then someone completely outside that profile starts using it in a way you never expected. And sometimes… they’re the ones who love it the most. I think people overdo customer personas. “We’re building for 25-35 year old founders who need X.” Cool. But your product doesn’t care about your persona. The problem cares. Two completely different people can have the exact same painful problem. And one of them might be 10x more willing to pay to make it disappear. So I’ve started paying attention to something different: Not “Who is our ideal customer?” But: “Who has the most expensive version of this problem?” That’s a much more interesting question. A freelancer losing 3 hours a week might complain about your product. A company losing €20k a month because of the exact same problem might happily pay you €2k/month to fix it. Same problem. Completely different business. Sometimes you don’t need to find a better product. You need to find the people for whom the problem hurts the most. submitted by /u/eddy836 [link] [comments]
