Original Summary
A few months ago I started building a tool that generates competitor and market research reports using AI. Halfway through, I got worried the idea was too easy to replicate (just ask ChatGPT the same question), so I pivoted to a version that tracks competitor pages over time instead. After testing both, I went back to the original idea. The tracking version had a better long-term moat on paper, but the report version was what people actually wanted to try first. It gives them something useful in one interaction instead of making them wait around for data to build up. It's called ScoutBrief now, live at [link]. Still early and still gathering feedback. If you've done research like this by hand before, I want to know what would actually make it worth paying for, versus just prompting an AI chat yourself. Happy to answer questions about the back-and-forth if it's useful to anyone stuck on a similar decision. submitted by /u/rijadmujic [link] [comments]
