I look after a handful of websites, and every uptime tool I tried had the same problem. It would email me at 2am that a site was down, I'd scramble, and it was fine. One flaky network hop, one bad check, one alert. So I built Bionic Uptime. How it works Every site is checked every 60 seconds. When a check fails, a second location checks right away. It's in a different city, with a different provider. Then the first location tries again 10 seconds later. You only get an email if all three agree. One email when it goes down, one when it comes back. If the two locations disagree, it says "Status uncertain" instead of guessing. If our own monitoring has a gap, it shows the gap instead of pretending your site was up. New this week: check what the page says Lots of sites return a normal "200 OK" with "Database connection failed" printed on the page. Most monitors call that up. Now you can type a phrase that must (or must not) be on the page. The part I didn't expect: we read the page before any JavaScript runs. So if your phrase is drawn in by JavaScript, we'd never see it and would email you every minute forever. Now the form loads your page and tests the phrase before it lets you save it.
