Hey everyone, After working in project management for 8 years, I was still struggling to find a tool that actually fit my workflow. I loved Monday. for its advanced features, but the pricing has become ridiculous, and because I travel a lot, the complete lack of offline functionality was a constant pain point. On the other hand, I’ve used MS Project; while it can be reliable, it feels incredibly outdated for the price you have to pay. Frustrated by the options out there, I decided to build my own project management tool called MBN Projects . I took the best parts of advanced modern boards and traditional project controls, compiling it into a native Windows application built with Rust and SQLite. Because it runs locally on your PC, it is incredibly fast—even with thousands of rows. Here is how it works right now: 100% Local & Privacy-First: Every project, task, and document lives in a local database on your own hardware. No cloud login, no analytics tracking, and no forced monthly subscription. True Offline Functionality: After a quick online activation, the app works entirely offline. If you are on a plane or at a secure site with the Wi-Fi off, your plans keep working. Advanced Features: It includes Gantt timelines with a true critical path, Kanban boards, interactive dashboards, resource workload tracking, a RAID log, baselines, a built-in document writer and Note keeper with reminders! Where the project is heading: Right now, it is a single-user tool with a one-off yearly licence per device. There is currently no live team collaboration, but I am already working on a self-hosted server option. This will allow companies to self-host their own database with shared workspaces and joint projects—giving you a Monday-like experience at a fraction of the cost, without your data leaving your infrastructure. Down the line, I want to build a hybrid cloud version. The goal is to let you use a cloud version while online, while everything syncs flawlessly to the desktop app in the background. If you go offline or travel, your plans are right there waiting for you, auto-syncing back to the cloud the moment you reconnect.
