Original Summary
i’m building a catalog generation tool and I’m trying to figure out where I’m messing up with retention. so far I’ve had around 300 visitors, 20 signups and roughly 90 catalog renders. people seem interested enough to sign up and actually use the product, but there’s one thing that worries me: pretty much nobody I didn’t personally onboard or help set up has come back for a second session. the users I personally helped with their initial setup seem to understand the value and use it properly but people who discover it on their own usually create something once, play around with it and disappear. so now I’m trying to understand what that actually means. Is the onboarding bad? is the product too complicated to understand without help? am I attracting people who are just curious but don’t actually have a recurring need? or is this just way too little data to draw any conclusions yet? i can obviously improve onboarding and add tutorials, emails etc but I don’t want to blindly add stuff without understanding the actual reason people don’t return. for those of you who have dealt with this before, how did you figure out why users weren’t coming back? what would you look at first? would appreciate any advice, especially from people who have gone through the same thing with an early SaaS product. submitted by /u/trying-to-whistle [link] [comments]
