Original Summary
I save a ridiculous number of cafes and restaurants off TikTok and Instagram, and then never see them again. The saved folder is great at collecting places and useless at finding one when you're hungry and nearby. So I built the thing I wanted. You share the video to the app, it works out which place it is, checks it against Google so the pin lands in the right spot, and drops it on your own map. You can filter by what's open now or what you haven't tried yet. The "top 10 cafes in Melbourne" videos were the fun bit to get right. It pulls every place out of those in one go and you tick the ones you want. Recipes came second, and honestly that part is for my partner, who's coeliac. Any recipe you save gets checked for gluten and the other big allergens, and it leans cautious. Soy sauce counts as gluten unless it says tamari, and a caption saying "gluten free" doesn't win over an ingredient that clearly isn't. It's a second pair of eyes, not a replacement for reading the label. Solo project, built in Melbourne. Free for 50 saves, and there's a paid tier (A$4.99 a month) if you want more. No ads. https://bitevault.app/download If you give it a go, two things I'd really like to know: what nearly stopped you signing up, and what would make you open it again next week? submitted by /u/smanson17 [link] [comments]
