I started out building an advice app. Pick your situation, get a good research-backed answer. Spent weeks on it. Then I described it to people and kept hearing the same thing, "that's just advice, I can get that from ChatGPT." - the UI was horrible and embarrassing too for the first few versions. Because advice was never the problem. There's endless advice now, books, reels, chatbots that write you a whole plan on demand. The actual problem is you already know what to do and still can't do. Reading doesn't fix that. You can't read your way into changing how you respond. So I rebuilt the whole thing around practice instead of advice. Plan the hard moment while you're calm, rehearse the response so it's more automatic, get one usable line in the actual moment, and a way to reflect and repair after it goes wrong. Plus a few small games that train the instinct underneath. More like brain-training than a tips feed. Honestly the best part of the whole thing has been talking to the testers. ~95 of them across 14 countries, and so much of what's in the app now came straight from those conversations. Real parents telling me what worked and what didn't. That was genuinely a wonderful stretch of the journey, and once parents actually started liking it, Google Play's 14-day closed-testing requirement wasn't the hurdle everyone warns you about. It kind of just happened because people were using it. The toughest work by a mile wasn't the pivot or the launch. It was the audits. I did something like 1242 of them, going through the app over and over for bugs and content refinement. Every scenario, every line, every flow.
