I’m taking a Japanese language class, and I was given the option to build a project as an alternative way to pass my grade. Instead of making a small demo just for class, I decided to build something that other beginner Japanese learners could actually use. That became Yabai Sensei, a free web app focused on JLPT N5. It includes a guided roadmap, kana practice, vocabulary, kanji and grammar lessons, reading and listening exercises, spaced-repetition reviews, practice exams, and progress tracking. I also had to make signup, learning setup, progress tracking, feedback, analytics, and admin tools work as one product. I’ve already fixed some authentication and security problems, but I know that my own testing cannot show me every confusing part. I’d really value feedback from other builders, especially about: The landing page and first impression Signup and onboarding Whether the next action is clear Mobile and desktop usability Anything that feels slow, broken, or unnecessary Whether the app explains its value clearly Full disclosure: I built the app, and it is still a class project.
