Most AI meeting assistants require you to upload the conversation to someone else’s cloud. That may be fine for an ordinary team call. It becomes harder to justify when the meeting contains client strategy, patient information, legal discussions, research interviews, unreleased product plans, or other sensitive information. A friend and I are launch Daisy Local, a private meeting assistant that runs on your own devices. Our goal with Daisy is to provide local privacy-first transcription but also build the complete meeting workflow around it: recording, transcription, speaker recognition, playback, notes, search, and recall across both your computer and phone. On desktop, Daisy: Records your microphone and computer audio without adding a bot to the call Runs live transcription and speaker identification locally Lets you play the recording alongside the transcript Lets you click a transcript line to jump to that moment Recognizes previously labelled speakers in future meetings Generates summaries, decisions, chapters, action items, and due dates Lets you search and ask questions across your meeting history Stores your recordings, transcripts, summaries, and notes in a folder you control The desktop app is available for Apple Silicon Macs, Windows, and Linux. We’re also running an iPhone and iPad beta for recording in-person meetings. The mobile app records through the phone or tablet microphone and performs transcription and speaker identification on-device. You can then transfer the recording, transcript, speaker labels, and notes directly to Daisy on your computer over your own local network. The meeting doesn’t pass through Daisy’s servers. For AI-generated notes, you can use Daisy’s on-device AI, connect a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, or deliberately connect a cloud provider using your own API key. If you select a cloud provider, transcript text is sent directly to that provider, so fully local mode is the right configuration for meetings that cannot leave your devices.
