I’ve been browsing r/SideProject more lately, and I keep noticing the same categories coming back in slightly different forms: AI wrappers, habit trackers, productivity apps, dashboards, subscription tools, etc. I don’t think that’s necessarily bad. Music has cover songs, remixes, reinterpretations — sometimes the new version is genuinely better. But I’m curious: how much do you actually research what already exists before building? Do you actively search Reddit, Product Hunt, GitHub, App Store, etc.? Or do you just build because your execution is the differentiator? And at what point does “my take on this idea” become “we are all independently rebuilding the same thing”?
