I ended up vibe coding a little project called FifiStory because of my daughter. She asks for bedtime stories pretty much every night, and I started using ChatGPT to generate new ones and then playing them using audio. That worked surprisingly well… until the stories started piling up. A few days later she'd ask for “that story we listened to before” and I'd be scrolling through old ChatGPT conversations trying to figure out which one she meant 😅 So I started building FifiStory. The idea is simple: a clean place where kids and parents can pick a story, read it, or listen to it. One thing I deliberately didn't want to build was another source of screen time. It would be pretty easy now to generate AI videos for every story and keep kids watching the screen. Instead, the stories use simple illustrated pages that turn as the narration progresses. You can start a story, lock the phone, put it next to the bed, and just listen together. I also intentionally left out autoplay. When one story ends, it ends. You have to actively choose another one rather than getting an endless stream of content. I'm still adding stories and improving things as we actually use it at home.
