Original Summary

For the last 14 years I've been working on a multi-purpose online food ordering system which I typically sold as a software license, plus customisation services. The system itself can do lots of different things and can be used in all sorts of scenarios, while it is also has elements which are outside the online ordering world, such as menu board integration, callerID (even with nokia black and white phones), and A LOT more. The system architecture diagram below will give you an idea of what it is capable of.. You could build your own online ordering portal for millions of restaurants or you could run just for one restaurant, hotel, and so on. Anyway, so overall, so far it is a pure services offering. Food-Ordering System Architecture I am now at a stage where I am considering to run an instance of the system as a SaaS service. Not something like Doordash, Deliveroo, JustEat, Grab, etc but more like a white-label thing where it would be completely free for restaurants (or whatever hospitality business would use it) but there would be a small fee going to us for each order, paid by the customer making the order. So if a store set the price for a pizza at $10 then the customer ordering it will see the total cost being $10 for the pizza + (say) $0.20 (order fee) = $10.20. The $10 are paid directly to the restaurant, and the $0.20 go to me. Or I could just let the restaurant get all the money and at the end of each month I get my portion from them. And that bit I could automate, so that could work too. The whole ordering process is directly between the restaurant and the customer. I am not in the middle. I just get a little something for facilitating the transaction. I do not really want to go down the route of having to deal with too much paperwork and customer service, so the idea is to let each restaurant to fully manage their own presence, menu, prices, offers, etc in the system and essentially make it at all much self-service as possible. In the next phase of this, I have a friend who is considering building a business of delivery drivers, whereas a restaurant without delivery drivers can effectively use any of his drivers on-demand. The system would automatically pick and assign a driver to an order (and vice versa). But all that is for later. Now that you have enough context (or so I think), I'd like to ask your view on the overall concept. If you have already worked in the hospitality industry, do you feel that the system can really be self-service, or will I have to deal with a million support calls? Could I avoid having tech support (Other than real/urgent tech support stuff. Not things like "please change my price from $1 to $2.) Again, assuming you have relevant industry experience, do you feel that the whole concept would appeal to businesses where you are? (mention the country please) Do you have any advice or suggestions? eg. Should I just stick to professional services rather than go into SaaS? Please let me know what you
