I’m building billing software for service businesses and this is something I’ve been thinking about a lot. Invoicing itself is obviously already solved by a ton of products. The problem I’m more interested in is what happens after the work is done. A customer owes $150, pays $50 through Zelle, now they owe $100. Someone else pays by card. Another pays cash. The thing I’m trying to make simple is having one place that tells the business owner where the money actually stands, regardless of how they got paid. I’m struggling with how to explain that without it sounding like “another invoicing app.” For those of you who have positioned products in crowded categories, would you lead with invoicing because people immediately understand it, or lead with the bigger problem even though it takes more explaining?
