Original Summary
I built a small tool that checks whether research reports count multiple rewrites of one original source as independent evidence. Technically, it works within a clear boundary. It catches obvious copies and some close rewrites, but deeper semantic rewrites can still get through. I showed it to three people. None were interested. Their feedback was that the feature was too narrow. I think they may be right. Instead of turning it into a large SaaS, I’m considering offering a fixed-scope pre-delivery citation review: A team gives me a sanitized old report. I check for duplicate sources, unclear source relationships, and anything requiring human review. They receive a short issue list. No subscription and no workflow integration. For people who have sold narrow B2B tools or technical services: Would you validate this as a manual service first, or is the lack of interest already telling me the pain is too weak? I’m particularly interested in examples where a narrow tool became valuable only as part of a broader service. submitted by /u/No-Profile-6178 [link] [comments]
