Original Summary
A few days ago, I posted about getting people to use a product but struggling with consistent paid upgrades. One thing I am taking from this stage: free users can help you understand where the product fits into someone’s life. The useful question is what brings them back and what they need next. For anyone at a similar stage, these are the questions I am focusing on: - What did the user come here to get done? - Did they complete that task easily? - Is this a one-time need or something they do every week? - What extra value would make paying worthwhile? With my product, LinkInSeconds , people can share documents, images and videos through one link. But someone sharing a PDF once has different needs from a freelancer sending files to clients every week. That second person might get more value from custom domains, passwords and view tracking. That difference is helping me think more clearly about how to explain the product. A feature list tells people what exists. A relevant example helps them understand where it fits. I have also worked on the dashboard and clearer upgrade options, alongside better tracking of where users come from. It’s still early, so I am treating these as experiments rather than claiming a conversion win. What helped you understand your first paying customers better: talking to them, watching how they used the product, or testing different offers? submitted by /u/No-Career1273 [link] [comments]
