For those of you who have experience with professional engineering and product hardening, continuous QA and regression testing, independent security work, infrastructure and taking a SaaS product into commercial use, what does this process realistically cost, what kind of team does it take, and how long does it take? I've spent roughly the last year building a business operations SaaS platform called TWT using Replit. Today TWT handles things like customers, properties, projects, quotes, work orders, one-time and recurring scheduling, employees, subcontractors, crews, maps and routes, field documentation, photos/video, quality control, expenses and receipts, worker compensation and advances, customer billing and payments, equipment/fleet, financial reporting, communications, AI-assisted workflows, permissions, and a lot of supporting processes behind all of it. The basic idea is to keep the operating chain connected: Work → People → Information → Costs → Payments → Financial Result. I've put roughly $15k of my own money into it so far, plus a ridiculous amount of my own time. The core platform is built. Obviously software development never really ends, and I'm sure real users will tell me to change, remove, simplify or add things. What I need now is to pressure-test what already exists. I want to run real businesses through it. Throw ugly scenarios at it. Find where interconnected workflows break. Find where the UX confuses users. Test permissions and company separation. Test the financial states. Test payments. Test what happens when jobs don't go perfectly. Build proper regression testing. Have experienced engineers review the architecture and code. Have security people try to find holes. A work order can affect scheduling. Completion can affect QC. QC can affect what a worker is owed. Expenses affect job costs. Billing affects financial reporting. Payments have different authorization and collection states. Different users have different permissions. Customer information, photos and financial information have to stay inside the correct company. At this point, I think I need experienced people other than me testing the platform and finding things I don't know to look for. what are the costs surrounding this process? What kind of team would you put around it? How long would you expect the hardening and commercial transition to take? If I'm overthinking what this stage requires, I'd like to know that too.
