This started as a spreadsheet for food and water expiry dates, a notes app for emergency contacts, and a folder of screenshotted PDFs for "what to do when the power goes out." I got tired of it and built one app for all of it. It's called Strongstead and it's now live on the App Store. Link: https://apps.apple.com/app/strongstead-emergency-prep/id6792129401 What it does • Tracks food, water, batteries and meds with expiry dates and turns it into a "days of supplies" number for your household • 15 scenario checklists and 45 step-by-step guides bundled on the phone • Bug-out bags and bug-out plans that walk you through Grab → Notify → Move with an offline map • One-screen crisis dashboard: emergency call, SOS text with GPS to your contacts, torch/strobe/siren, medical QR code • Medical profiles, an encrypted document vault, and a "where's the water shutoff" page for your house • Widgets, App Lock, encrypted iCloud backup The design constraint I cared about most: everything works in airplane mode. No signup, no analytics, no backend of mine. App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected." Only map tile downloads, an optional barcode lookup, and Family Share (via the user's own iCloud) touch the network. Tech stack • SwiftUI + SwiftData, iOS 17+, solo build • Vault is AES-GCM with a key derived from the user's PIN via PBKDF2, all Apple CryptoKit • Maps are MapLibre with downloadable offline regions and a small road-routing engine that works off cached tiles • Device-to-device sync is Multipeer Connectivity, foreground only, both sides confirm a 6-digit code • Family Share uses the user's private CloudKit database with end-to-end encrypted bundles, so I never see the data • Three themes (light, dark, and a red-on-black "tactical" one), four languages (EN, DE, FR, PL) Monetization Free tier is real: 10 inventory items, all checklists and guides, maps, crisis dashboard, vault, bags. PRO unlocks unlimited inventory, bug-out plans, custom checklists, sync, Family Share and PDF export. Monthly, yearly, and a lifetime option because I assumed the prepper crowd hates subscriptions. Nothing you created is deleted if you stop paying.
