Hi folks, I’m really happy to share something small that I honestly didn’t expect to happen. I built a tiny SaaS that costs just €10/month. I originally built it only for myself and a few friends. I never expected anyone else to care about it. Actually, it had been sitting in a private GitHub repo for almost a year. Only my friends could clone it and run it on their own machines. Then one night I was free, a bit bored, and thought: why not just make it public? So I bought a domain, got a cheap VPS, and put it online. I started replying to people who had the same problem I was trying to solve. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. The first person signed up on September 3rd. The first person actually paid on September 12th. It’s nothing huge, but I’m genuinely happy and excited about it. It feels really good to see that something I built for myself is actually useful to someone else. Thank God this happened at this time. I was feeling a bit down lately, and this gave me some energy to keep working on it. I’m purely a software engineer, though, and I have basically no idea how to get customers or run ads 😅 I thought Reddit might be a good place to reach people, but I’m not sure. My paid customer actually came from Facebook, while Reddit seems to remove my replies whenever they contain my URL. So I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have been through this before.
