I’ve been working on a side project called MixPerfect Radio for several years, and it has now been running 24/7 for more than six months. The idea is simple: create a continuous DJ-style mix without using prerecorded DJ sets. So I built the software myself. The system selects the next track, finds a suitable transition and mixes the tracks together in real time while the stream is running. I’ve manually prepared thousands of tracks with mixpoints to make the transitions work. The project is mainly focused on Italo Disco, Euro Disco, Eurobeat, Hi-NRG and related 80s/90s dance music. It also has themed specials that are randomly mixed into the regular stream, so there isn't a fixed playlist or programming schedule. The interesting part for me has always been the engineering challenge: how do you make a computer continuously create musical transitions that don't simply match BPM, but actually feel right?
