I needed short recordings for products I was building. I wanted to show a feature, have the video follow the important clicks, and share it without spending ages in an editor. I tried different recorders, but I kept running into something that did not fit the way I wanted to work. After a while I decided to build my own. It is called Windowshot. It is a Windows app with screen recording, automatic and manual zoom, cursor smoothing, camera and audio recording, and backgrounds. There is also a screenshot editor because I needed a way to make screenshots presentable too. There is still an editor. I use it to check the recording and adjust things before export. The part I wanted to reduce was the repeated work around a simple demo. I built this, so I am interested in feedback from people who actually record their screen: does the zoom make this example easier to follow, or would you prefer less of it?
