Original Summary
Like most of us I struggle to remember passwords so wanted to create a way of generating strong and complex passwords that are also easy to remember and can be regenerated if I forget them. My new side project uses a What 3 Words address and a PIN number to produce a unique, strong, and memorable password. I don’t need to ever write this password down or add it to a password manager, I just remember the location I chose and my PIN number and I can regenerate the same password again For example, I choose my favourite tree in the local park and zoom into it on the map. This gives me the unique What 3 Words address for that spot. I then use my regular PIN number which dictates which of the characters in the What 3 Words address are swapped for numbers, capitalised or where special characters are added. This generates a unique password which is easy to read and remember, but also complex and unique. If I do forget it, I just open the site again, navigate back to the same tree in the park I like, and re-input my PIN number and the same password is generated I know the passwords aren’t the strongest possible, but they’re good enough for 95% of my requirements. I’d be really grateful for any feedback: https://placepass.me/ submitted by /u/shinyshef [link] [comments]
