I got tired of handing my financial data to cloud apps (and of Mint shutting down), so I built HomeLedger — a self-hosted personal finance manager you run on your own machine. It's free, open-source (MIT), and there's no account, no subscription, and no data leaving your server. What it does: \- Track bank accounts (debit, credit, investment, cash) with live balances \- Income/expense transactions with categories, budgets, and savings goals \- Subscriptions with auto-charge + a calendar view so nothing sneaks up on you \- Net worth, reports (trends, savings rate, category breakdown), and alerts (low balance, upcoming payments, goal completed) \- Bank statement import (CSV/XLSX/OFX/QIF) and receipt/invoice OCR that links to a transaction \- Auto-categorization rules, loans with amortization, full JSON backup/restore \- Bilingual (English/Spanish), light/dark themes, and it's now fully responsive on mobile How you run it: one Docker command on a home server, VPS, NAS, or Raspberry Pi. There's also a Home Assistant add-on if you're into that. Why self-hosted: you own the data. Nothing is sent to a third party — it's a privacy-friendly alternative to Mint, YNAB, or Monarch for people who'd rather keep their finances on their own hardware.
