Original Summary
Hey everyone, Last year, running an NFL pick’em league with friends and family using messy Google Sheets and ugly ad-riddled websites drove me crazy. So I decided to build a standalone, slick mobile app with live playoff simulations, weekly pick’ems, and private group rivalries (NFL Playoffs Path). The Current Reality (Attached RevenueCat Chart): We launched for the 2026 season with a freemium model ($4.99/mo or $39.99/yr with a 7-day trial) and an offseason draft hub. The Good: Week 1 and 2 brought a solid wave of active users and our first real paying subscribers. Watching those RevenueCat notifications pop up on Telegram has been thrilling. The Challenge: Sports apps have a brutal seasonal cliff. Once February (Super Bowl) hits, user activity naturally drops until the Draft / Preseason. Where I need your brutal feedback: Onboarding & Paywall: Right now, users get Week 1 free and the playoff simulator free, but ongoing weekly pool standings and private group deep-dives hit the paywall. Does this trial/freemium cutoff feel fair, or would you structure it differently? Off-season Retention: We built an Offseason Hub (NFL Draft big board, FA tracker, schedule strength), but I'd love to know what features keep you opening a sports app between February and August. App UX / Polish: The stack is Angular + Ionic/Capacitor with a custom Liquid Glass UI. If you're into football, iOS apps, or SaaS growth, I'd love to hear your raw thoughts. You can check it out on iOS or web: playoffspath.com Happy to answer any questions about the tech stack, push notifications architecture, or RevenueCat setup!
