I’m the author of OpenBaud, an open-source Rust MCP server and Codex plugin for working with USB/UART devices. The workflow I wanted was: ask the agent to identify a board, inspect its responses, validate the checksum, and save the working protocol as a typed command. Next time, the command and captured evidence should still exist in the project, rather than having to reconstruct everything from a conversation. The recent UI work makes that process easier to inspect: a port picker plus views for plots, waveforms, traffic timing and frame diagnostics inside hosts that support MCP Apps. The stable Codex plugin also includes runtimes for macOS, Linux and Windows. It needs Node.js 18+ to select the local binary.
