Original Summary
I'm an indie dev — built ClearHiiT, a HIIT/interval timer for iOS, years ago and never shipped it. Wanted to share why, and would love feedback now that it's finally out. The engine — voice cues layered over your music instead of interrupting it, treadmill pace/incline guidance, reliable background timing even with the screen locked — worked. I used it myself for ages. Never released it. The reason wasn't the logic, it was the UI. Every pass I did on it looked exactly like what it was: a backend/logic developer's idea of an interface. Functional, forgettable, the kind of thing I didn't want my name next to. Tried on and off for years and it never stopped looking that way. What actually got it shipped this year was using AI as a design collaborator — not to write the app (I wrote all the code myself, same as always), but to iterate on layout, colour and spacing far faster than I could alone, and to see options I wouldn't have generated on my own. Every final call — what stayed, what got cut, which screen was still too busy — was still mine. It just closed a gap years of working on this solo hadn't. Ended up with two themes (Tidal, cooler/focus; Daybreak, warmer/motivation) and an interface I've actually stopped avoiding putting my name on. It's live now — free 30-day trial, one-time unlock after, no subscription, no account, nothing tracked. iPhone + Apple Watch, EN/ES/FR.
