Hey r/SideProject , been working on this partly to learn Python and Docker, and partly to see if it's worth turning into something real. It automatically downloads a Twitch VOD, detects likely-good moments using chat activity (message spikes, emote bursts, that kind of thing), formats them into short-form vertical clips with captions burned in, and can post them to a YouTube Shorts channel. There's a review step where clips get watched and approved or rejected before anything goes live, so it's not blind auto-posting. A few more details on how it works: Handles webcam-and-gameplay layouts and full-frame IRL streams differently, since the crop needed is different for each Everything runs in an isolated setup per streamer, so nothing overlaps between users If it became a paid service, cancellation would fully delete everything, including any account access, immediately. No lingering data or credentials Thinking about tiers based on how many clips get posted per day, plus a separate option to just download the clips yourself instead of auto-posting to YouTube The idea is eventually offering this as a low-cost service for streamers who don't have time to make their own clips or Shorts but want a presence there. Before building it out further, I'm trying to figure out: Is this actually useful, or does it feel low-value or gimmicky? Would people want full control over what gets posted, or would they trust it to auto-post the best ones without input? What would be a reasonable price for something like this monthly? Any dealbreakers that would stop someone from wanting a tool like this touching their content? Still early and mostly built for my own use right now. Genuinely just trying to figure out if this solves a real problem before sinking more time into it.
