I built a vocabulary app where your study progress grows a dojo — now on iOS, Android and web I’m a developer of Kotoba Dojo. It’s now available on iOS and Android, alongside the web version. The core is spaced-repetition vocabulary practice. Review a word, decide whether to keep practising it, revisit it or retire it, and the app handles the review schedule. As you train, your dojo gains lanterns, gates, gardens and buildings. I wanted the interface to feel like a calm place to return to. The design question I’m trying to answer is whether seeing a place grow makes vocabulary practice more rewarding, or just adds another layer between you and the words. There are also grammar, listening and speaking activities, with availability varying by language. Some features require a paid Pro subscription. The mobile app is built with React Native and Expo. Now that all three platforms are live, I’d especially like feedback on the first session: is it obvious how to start practising, and does the dojo theme help or get in the way?
