Hi! I've been building a little project called Roaring Reads, aimed specifically at UK primary-school children in KS2 (Years 3–6). I started it because a lot of children's reading apps are great at tracking books/pages, but I wanted to explore what happens after a child reads. Roaring Reads gives them a short 5-question “Book Talk” about the actual book they've been reading — things like inference, finding information, vocabulary, personal response and comparing books. The interesting part for me is that it can build on things the child has already said. For example, in one of my tests it remembered what had previously been said about Coraline and used that when asking a comparison question about Matilda . Parents then get feedback showing what their child understood, where their reasoning could be stronger, and ways to continue the conversation at home. I've been working particularly hard on the AI accuracy side too. If Roaring Reads doesn't have enough reliable knowledge about a particular book, I'd rather it admit that and use what the child tells it than invent characters or events. I've just reached Android open testing and I'd really like some people who actually have children around 7–11 to try it. I'm not looking for people to tell me it's brilliant — I'd genuinely like to know where a parent or child gets confused, bored, frustrated, or thinks a question is rubbish.
